Whenever I can, I try to donate, volunteer, and help others in need. But life gets in a way and sometimes it's hard to share your limited resources (time, money, etc).
"Commit to practicing generosity in my thinking, speaking, and acting." It's one of my favorite teachings by Thich Nhat Hanh. --I think this is a great way to contribute anywhere, anytime! This is a quick and easy way to practice generosity. It's a win-win situation for you and others. When you're generous with your thoughts, you feel wealthy. Because generosity usually comes from a place of abundance. People can be kind but deprived inside. I know how it feels because I've done it. I wanted to take care of others first because I wanted to be kind and caring. But inside, I was not happy. I was frustrated with myself. Not taking good care of myself before anyone else. Why was I so frustrated? It's because I thought I didn't have enough. I didn't have enough willpower, time, resources, and self-control. What I know now is that I am enough. I don't have to seek outside for something to fulfill me. Through mindfulness practice, I gained generosity in my thinking and speaking. At times, I may not have enough time or money, but I know I can be generous in my thoughts and words. So this week, "Commit to practicing generosity in your thinking, speaking, and acting!"
